I was a little to quick to announce success there. Shop called today, the coil they have in stock has the 8' cable on it rather than the 3'. Well, not in the mood at the moment to be chopping and shortening search coil cables.

Looks like I need to get hold of Monte and have him go through his detector bunker for Tesoro parts. . . . I sense a theme here. 24 days.

Rich, I know what you mean when you said you were "not in the mood" to mess around with the extra-long coil cables. I never did enjoy all the extra-length cables and the need to wrap, wrap, wrap around the rod just to get the coil hooked up. Sometimes I'd wait until I have two or more from Tesoro or White's that needed to be shortened then budget a day.

Actually, when I lived over in Western Oregon, and when White's was more customer-related, I'd just take the White's coils to the factory and walk in of a morning and they would take care of them. They stopped doing that and other things a few years ago. As for the Tesoro coils with extra-long cables, I stopped doing those several years ago when my eyes got worse and the numbness and loss of mobility in my hands hampered me doing them. One thing I did was contact a couple of Community Colleges that had electronics classes and I'd ask instructors if doing such a thing would make a simple project for some students. I had a few done by students or just my the instructor .... no charge.

I'm sure I'll probably need to have a cable shortened if I find one of the 4½" diameter White's Blue Max 350 coils for the modified IDX Pro as I haven't come across a shortened-cable specimen in quite a few years.

As for Tesoro parts, I'll have to look and see what I have left to thin out.

Yes, the Bandido II µMAX has long been a 'must-have' for me.
