I have noticed something profound through the years of following a Tesoro metal detector around and digging up the beeps...and that revelation was... there is a lot of nuance in that mono tone beep. If you follow what people say on the various forums about the audio of their favored metal detector, you pick up on the "Round Sound" description of a target signal. It is hard to explain and has to be experienced but a 'round sound' is the soft ramp up and follow through of a target audio response. Metal detectors love round objects and usually produce the soft up and down of a target signal. Pull tabs sound harsher and have a sharp leading edge and cut off...but I still dig those signals. The softer signals are a no brainer.

The video you are referring to, I believe, is in question.
