My additional thoughts and comments on this model.

J.T., I agree with UtahRich and feel the same way for anyone with any detector they use. If someone likes a detector enough that they find stuff to satisfy them, and it encourages them to get out and enjoy this great sport more often, then that's a good thing.thumbs up I mean, I found stuff with the GTAx1250, GTP 1350, GTI-1500 and GTI 2500 models I owned. All of them worked and all of them found coins for me in all of the public parks and sports fields and other city-type places I hunted. They worked.

The Imaging wasn't all that exciting and more of a waste of time, at least for me, and I wished for a smaller and better-sized search coil for most of the places I hunted. The sweep speed called for learning the best sweep and the limits of going too fast or too slow due to the very mineralized ground I deal with. In 'bad ground' it can't be swept too quickly or it impaired the performance because it struggled to handle the higher mineralized ground. It needed a somewhat slower sweep speed. Some detectors are like that, even to the point of a sweep needs to be more 'controlled' with some makes and models with very little allowance to slow down or speed up.

To me, all of the Garrett GT series worked kind of like the Teknetic's Omega 8000's which I really liked. They were balanced and comfortable to use, and provided very acceptable performance for most urban Coin & Jewelry Hunting sites. But like the Omega or Delta or Gamma, or the White's Prism or Coinmaster or current Treasure series, they are all terrible when it comes to hunting in a highly iron contaminated site. Since I need detectors that work well in those environments, the GT group just didn't pass my 'needs' test.

If he likes it, then I encourage him to get out and use it.
