Detector colors and our likes and dislikes.

Garrett started out with Gray, and I like the looks of my old Gray-colored Hunter BFO. Garrett has used a few different shades of green through the earlier years, as did Compass Electronics and a few others. I personally like some of the 'Garrett Green' and prefer it to some of the other colors and shades we've seen through the years.

As for me, I am kind of tired of 'Black' detectors. Even though I own several, I just like to have more variety on color schemes. That goes for both the control housing and the rods and the search coils. My Nokta CoRe and Relic came with their black rods and control housing and coils, but the side decal on them had more color to it. Then I had their upper and middle metal rods stripped and 'powder coated' so the CoRe is an Edge Red' and the Relics are an 'Edge Blue.' Plus, I mainly use these two with their smaller-size coils for Relic Hunting in very dense debris and they sport a white-colored search coil for that.

Naturally my Tesoro's have the gold rods and brown control housings and I have the white-colored 6" coils mounted on them. The rest of what I have is in their drab 'basic black' color.

As for 'Green' I also liked the Dark Green of the Teknetics T2 series. White's did bring out the Bengal Orange for the MX-7 and a nice Tan color for their GM 24K, and Minelab went with the Red for the Vanquish series which was the shade Makro used for the Original Racer five years ago. I wonder if any manufacturer is going to make a bold change in colors of future control housing or the rod-system?
