Package arrived today - and I was busy as all get out. Hoping to have some time here shortly to open the box and have a looksee.
It won't take long to open and assemble the APEX, but it will take more time admiring the slim, sleek appearance and nice physical package design.

Will need to get her charged up ....
Maybe not. Mine came with almost a complete charge, and I am enjoying very good battery life, too. I did charge it up after working with it for a few hours, but it was only down 2 bards.

And as part of my yard installation. i should get a test area cleaned and ready to be planted with some coins. cool smiley
CAUTION!! The Garrett APEX is a good, call if 'average' performance, detector for the MSRP. It does better than some, but it is not a 'depth monster.' Plant a good test garden at 'reasonable' depths. Do not plant them too deep such as an up-line model with round 11" DD coil might find.winking smiley

Garrett detectors have not been noted for depth-of-detection since comparing models since the early '80s. They do have their strong points, and as I am working with the APEX I am finding things I like about it along with some that make me grab a different detector based upon the site I am going to work. TID isn't too bad on shallower coin-sized targets to about 3"-4", then it can start to get a bit inconsistent. Naturally, it all depends on the type of terrain, the amount of scattered trash you encounter to deal with, the target size, metal make-up and orientation, and with the APEX we can't forget to consider the operating frequency used.

Enjoy getting to know the APEX.

Monte

PS: It's nice to ADD it to my working detector outfit, but it has not urged me to part with anything. It's a 'one more' detector and not a replacement for anything I own and use.
