Here, the video maker tried to do a comparison between the Garrett Apex and Nokta / Makro Simplex +. But there are problems:
Problems #1, is that I do not know all the settings used on both detectors which should be 'similar' to make a fair comparison.
Problem #2, the fellow either didn't know he had activated the Iron Audio button, or he simply didn't know what Iron Audio is supposed to do, and that it is a feature to be used when Iron is Rejected. Instead, he was using the ZERO mode, which Accepts Iron, and then activated Iron Audio which bypasses the Iron Volume setting and causes the audio behavior you will hear when he does my Nail Board Performance Test in ZERO mode and everything sound loud and responsive. It shouldn't.
Here's the video: [

Watch the full video, but pay attention to the Nail Board test, other encounters with Iron, and try to note, as I did, that it says 'Iron Audio' on the display just under the left-side Disc. segments. A flawed detector comparison using the wrong setting feature.

It is another interesting video, but NOT necessarily 'well worth the watch" because some of the results are errant to what we might expect normally.
My eyes are aged but my memory and logical thinking are still sharp. Notice when he went to my Nail Board Performance Test the Simplex + w/5X9½ DD coil did pretty well. It would have probably sounded better in 2-Tone Beach mode, and I wasn't clear on the different settings he used.
But when he grabbed the Apex, with the 6X11 DD coil ,he tested in both the ZERO mode and the COINS mode. Notice how the ZERO mode had very loud responses in all directions? Now, wouldn't it seem logical to adjust the Iron Volume to a LOW setting for a quieter response, which is what I do. I have my Iron Volume set at '3' on my Apex.
So, why was his Apex audio so loud and you could not tell a good signal or not? Because, unless I am mistaken, in most of the times I could see his Apex display, I am pretty sure I saw 'Iron Audio' activated. That reads just below the Notch segments on the left side. That will produce a louder and useless function when the Iron Range is ACCEPTED, such as in ZERO mode, and that loudness bypasses the Iron Volume setting. That's a different function.
The Iron Audio is designed to work on a brief-check basis when you are in the COINS mode or any other mode when the Iron Range is DISCRIMINATED, therefore, he needs to re-do the tests, all of them, and make sure the Iron Audio feature is turned OFF when using the ZERO mode.
It is a function that many people using a Garrett haven't learned so they don't know what it does, or when to and not to use it.

Now, watch this one using the Apex about Iron Audio and Iron Volume. Graphic and verbal explanations make it very clear:
