From my understanding experience not with Z-Link but of a different brand that runs same type System that type of headphones system you can be about 30 ft away and have a good connection. I can walk all over my house and not lose signal. Just switch arms should not make a difference at all. I could be wrong and they may have did something strange with the Garrett's
