Yes, the new Garrett Apex is a very comfortable detector. I've been trimming and adjusting my Detector Team this year to have a good group of hard-working performers to handle a variety of tasks. I am pretty well outfitted now with all the units I have, eliminating the heavier models, and have duplicates of three units, and hoping that a couple of those manufacturers will get a smaller-size coil offered or them soon. That's why I have two of some, just to mount a smaller-size coil on them.

I have been rotating through my Daily-Use Team just to get more comfortable with any strengths and weaknesses they might have, and the more I use some of them, the more I am liking them for my wants and needs. One of those is the Apex. It's definitely not a make-over Ace series model and I wish they'd drop that name association. It's not an AT Max, either, but it does have some strong points in its favor.

I, too, am getting more comfortable with the Apex's audio and visual responses, and would sure like to see a good smaller-size or mid-size coil of Concentric design as they would help tighten-up the VDI response on side-to-side sweeps compared with the DD coils. I am enjoying the wireless MS3 headphones and AT Pinpointer w/Z-Lynk, also, and it makes a very complete package for me. I've been hunting some more challenging sites, also, such as doing the mineralized pea gravel and rock areas I've worked the last few days. In them the Apex has preordered really well.

Keep using and learning you Apex, and enjoying your vacation. All the best of success with your Apex. I sure wish the Oregon coastal sites had more to offer, like those in California, Texas, Florida and better sites on the opposite coast.
