I hunt that field w/ the V3i running 3 freq (2.5, 7.5, 22.5) and have the gain up pretty high - say ~10 (out of 15).

I can hear a little chatter now and then, but in general i am able to get by. Don't gain much by going to 15 or boost...but one neat feature w/ the V3i that can work is running a lower gain w/ the boost on...which has an effect of counteracting the EMI.

May be some of the additional settings one can toggle within the HW that is also resulting in the outcome (filter settings, freq offsets, etc).

For the record, i've never found anything but clad here.
