.. really like the weight and balance and the feel, looks and performance of the Apex with that 5X8 DD coil. A friend just bought his 5X8 Ripper coil this week as well as environmental cover since he liked mine. I like the cover except it hides the small yellow housing that I like.
He and his sister, my long-time 'detecting buddy', also liked the MS-3 Headphones and AT ProPointer and ability to hear it in the headphones. I showed them I have the same Headphone/Pinpointer set-up on my F75+, F19 and Bandido II µMAX, but while they liked the audio and pinpointer performance, they have been hunting for 36 years and
never use headphones.
There are a lot of good detectors out there, but the Garrett Apex is perhaps overlooked by some, but as a mid-priced SMF it is a really impressive detector.
