Hi Rich----That's kind of ironic when you think about it.---It's also been 47 years for me also since I swung my first detector (1975).----Where did all that time go?

----My experience has been in relic, coin, gold (nugget hunting), competition hunts & some water hunting.----Anymore (and at my age) I can't "handle" gold hunts for an extended time in the rough terrain though.----Rye Patch has always been a fairly easy (terrain) hunt fun area but ---man---those slate rocks can (and will) cut your tires----can we say FLATS (sidewalls AND treads)!

-------I wish you the very best with your new Axiom--with your skills & determination you will do well.-------------Del------

Steve H is going to the Axiom exclusively for his nugget hunting ventures.----That says A LOT!
Howdy Del,
Yes, Steve has openly shared his experience working with the engineers at Garrett in the development of the Axiom. Steve has some serious experience prospecting AND he's a straight up no nonsense guy that tells it like it is. To boot, he has some excellent communication skills and is free with sharing his knowledge and experience with others. His website has become a gathering place for gold nugget detectorists from Australia/New Zealand and the USA.
I think it is a great source for myself as I've viewed the world of electronic prospecting and dabbled in nugget hunting these last couple years with my 800. Having reached a crossroads in the woods, I've decided to venture away from my traditional coin hunting in 2023 and 2024 and strike out with the Axiom. So, Joel has one ordered for me, and as i wait for its' arrival, i'm delving into likely places to explore to cut my teeth so to speak. So much more to learn.
It's been 47 years now since that first detector and almost all of it has been directed towards coin shooting. Only recently have I changed focus some, a few years ago diverting time to shallow water hunting, and now some electronic prospecting. The SWH has been very successful for me personally and I'm hoping the next few years with the Axiom and 800 proves similar. We shall see.
Hopefully i can pick up the needed knowledge and skills as I set off on my adventures.
