Got a NEL "Snake" coil for the Apex. It is 6.5" x 3.5" DD. In preliminary nail board testing, it performs better than the "Sharp" 5" DD.
The toughest position and direction for any detector is Coin at #2, direction #4. With this coil, both #4 directions ring out about as well as any other direction! I was pleasantly surprised. I was actually looking for another 5", but they seem to be discontinued.
The total area of the Snake is actually a little smaller than the Sharp.
George, I think you will come to really like that Snake coil. I use it on my Racers and stays on 90% + of the time.
Great lil coil. It easily outdid the Racer's small factory coils.
