Just dropping a note to see if I have any company out there on AHRPS still swinging an Equinox.
Apparently there were several of us to start and I'm told I may be the only one left. eye popping smiley When I made that post I was thinking of 6 people I knew and who had either reported to me it was gone or, in your case, posted the fact they are still using an Equinox. Some preferred the FBS model they had used previously. Some liked some other existing models. And some liked the newer entry from Nokta-Makro, the Anfibio Multi. Now, that was the use of 'Some' referring to only 5 people. That's because 'some' of them decided there was more than one detector they wanted to go to. Their Equinox was already a 'used' unit when they parted with it so it wasn't always a brand new unit they went to but a gently used detector .. or two .. to satisfy their wants to meet their needs.

If I am the only one left, I don't know that there's a point to having an entire forum page to myself other than I can write all over the walls and nobody will ever complain. But what fun is there in that? grinning smileyYes, there definitely is a point to your posts. Matter of fact, most of your posts also indicate the search mode used and other settings, and that alone made the posts helpful and informative to readers. thumbs up

If there are others interested, I'll take the time to post my Equinox 800 field observations and look forward to reading yours. If not, I can make my regular old trip reports on one of the other AHRPS forums and leave off the equipment details.Definitely DO post your experiences with the Equinox as well as other brands. You can post under a specific brand, if I have them here, or post in the General Metal Detecting, Relic / Old Site or Traditional Coin Hunting Forums if they are fit for what hunting you did.

People do not have to have the very model or brand we post about because many people still have an interest in competitive models. Perhaps they are thinking about getting something new and different, so information is helpful. Heck, look at what I have done this year. I bought two discontinued Teknetics Omega 8000's and a 7" Concentric Fisher coil to use on one of them, and some have asked 'Why?' I traded a brand new, in-the-box White's MX-7 for another discontinued model and aftermarket coil, a White's Classic ID w/5½" Concentric Ferret coil. Then I acquired a new, current manufacture Fisher F44 for much less than the MSRP which is only $399, and once again I get asked .... 'What for?'

I have had some other defectors I acquired and have let them go to interested and deserving people, but my newer acquisitions are here to stay, but so are my two Nokta FORS CoRe, two FORS Relic and new Anfibio Multi along with two Tesoro Bandido II µMAX and a Silver Sabre µMAX devices which are all very proven detectors, and all but one of them is very light weight and well balanced for my health and mobility limitations. Hopefully so I can get out and hunt more than I have been able to the last few years.

Does that mean I do not like Minelab products? Nope, not at all. I used to use a BBS Sovereign XS2a Pro unit and also had 5 or 6 FBS Explorer II's and an Explorer SE Pro, and all three of the early X-Terra series. Of them all, if I added one Minelab back into my Outfit, and if I could use it without fatigue, it would be another Explorer II with an 11" coil. I wouldn't use it often because it doesn't work that well for the dense iron debris sites I enjoy, but they handled a lot of private yard and grassy park type settings well.

Hopefully, others who own and use an Equinox model, or any Minelab product, will post their opinions, favorable or not, as they work them afield in different applications. I know I enjoy each detector in my present Outfit, but I don't hold back making a negative comment when there is one to make along with the favorable ones.

Now, if I was a 'snowbird,' like Del & Patsy, I could enjoy getting out about every day like they can. Just hoping a spring thaw arrives sooner than average this year.

Monte,

Thanks for peeking in on the minelab forum. I think it is is Important that we each find a detector or two (or more if needed) that we like, can operate expertly and we have confidence in using in those places we hunt. It make the outings more pleasant when we are having some success and the time afield enjoyable.
