Well Rich,
I haven't, thinking maybe Steve Herschbach might be the guy to ask?

Exactly my thoughts.

Most of our BC gold is placer that requires digging down to paydirt to access.
I have been wondering about detecting spoil piles at old mine sites though....thinking
That is a whole other field of endeavor for sure.
Cheers,
Drew.

At the Oregon get together last year there were a few gold mine tailings or spoil piles within a couple minutes walk of where we were hunting. I spent an hour of so going through one of them. Turned up some bullets (imagine) as well as a couple unexploded blasting caps. eye popping smiley I wasn't real keen on keeping them in my finds pouch. I ran out of time and had to leave, but it made me want to try it again.
