Backroads -

March 17, 2019 04:18PM
Took a long drive on some backroads yesterday and revisited my location from last week, this time running solo.

I was able to come up with a couple more keepers; a very corroded 1914-D Barber Dime, an ear tag from a nearby town, 1952-S & unknown date wheaties and a couple modern coins.

The locals have certainly picked things pretty clean and I had to employ all of my detecting skills to find the keepers I did. Nothing seems to be easy. To boot, the ground is not very kind to coins and tokens. The good part was that while there was snow on the ground in my neck of the woods, this area was detectable.

Detector Used - Minelab EQX800, 11" coil, Park 1, sensitivity 21-25, Iron Bias 2, Recovery 6, 5-tone.

There is significant EMI in areas of this park and the ground is pretty caustic. For anybody interested, i did a whole bunch of mode and setting changes trying to get a better signal as I came across what I thought to be good, deep targets. These settings were the best I could get for this spot.

A 'back-road' trip to a 'bad-ground' location .... again?
