To Dig or Not To Dig -

yes! it is becoming 'clear" to me as time marches on ,that the 'nox" truly is an 'edge"in the war on trash.it appears to be partially unmasking good targets in the junk.we deal with the same thing here in the east.it's universal
in that we need to get at the stuff hidden in the trash.carpets of ferrous everywhere makes for a very long, and tiring day.

Hey j.t.,

I don't think carpet of trash would be accurate for this location. Difficult ground conditions. Yes. EMI. Yes. Masked Targets. Absolutely. Conductive trash. Sure. Carpet of trash? No. I try to represent things the way I see them and I don't think that would be accurate.

What does amaze me is how little it takes to mask a good target. I'll say it again, we do ourselves a favor by removing a handful of those 'garbage targets' each time we visit a favorite hunting spot. Surely, one of the targets thought to be garbage will end up being a keeper of some sort. Second, as more of the shallow trash is removed, deeper targets hidden below become visible to the detector.

Do I like my 800. Yes, I do. I am getting to know it better as I gain experience with it. This helps me when it comes to making a decision, 'To Dig or Not To Dig.

Something for me to keep in mind is that what may apply when I am hunting this particular grassy field may not apply when I am at one of the WTHO's out in the middle of nowhere. Where once stood wooden buildings, now there lays thousands of square nails and rusted bits of tin roofs.

Places like these generally require being less selective and simply look for all conductive targets in the middle of the rusty iron and tin. About that tin. . . . .

j.t., trying to figure out different detectors is difficult because there is no 'norm' in how we define 'trash.'
