DesertRokon,
A couple years ago, I was out at one of the WTHO's in Nevada gathering my equipment near my truck to begin hunting. As I turned on my MXT and started walking to my area to hunt, I got a signal from the detector. Looking down, I saw the outline of something round in the dirt. I picked it up and found it was the brass end to a shotgun shell. I flipped it over and had to look twice as there was a penny inside. A little shaking revealed a wheat penny from the 50's had become stuck inside. Looking down at the ground, I saw a bunch of other round trash and realized I was standing over the spot somebody dumped out the unwanted contents to their finds pouch, Too bad it wasn't a Seated dime or an IHC.
I Wonder if they ever figured out where that Wheat cent went to? Just as a note, I have separate pockets for trash and keepers to avoid throwing away goodies mixed in with trash.
