Picking it up then dumping it out. confused smiley

Through the years I have been surprised at how often I see similar signs of behavior. I wonder why someone goes to the effort of picking up all the miscellaneous junk they find, and then instead of getting rid of it properly, they simply dump out their pouch of retrieved trash at a site before they get back in their vehicle to head out. It would be better if they kept a 5 gallon or other type plastic container in their vehicle to just dump the trash in there and haul it off. Might also be a good way to double check your efforts afield.

I've never found a coin in a shotgun shell base of discarded debris, but I once hunted 'Twin Flats' Utah after a fellow had raked an area to remove a lot of surface iron. It was where I had found a few decent Trade Tokens. I drove out there about four days after they had been there and I could tell raked material from the pouch-dump they left there before departing. I toe-scuffed their dumped material to spread things out, and using my detector w/small coil I managed to find a late 1800's Barber Dime that was dumped out along with the trash.thumbs up

Like you, I have a separate container in my pouch for the 'keepers' so they don't get scrambled in with the recovered junk.

j.t., trying to figure out different detectors is difficult because there is no 'norm' in how we define 'trash.'
