Re: Chatter on the Equinox800

With the Equinox, I've had severe EMI problems from different type of sources and turning down sensitivity is the only solution that I've found. Underground buried cables can make an area unhuntable unless sensitivity is reduced dramatically. I've also found the sodium type lighting along city and park sidewalks can send me home. I can be hunting with no issues and as dusk approaches, the lights start warming up and EMI increases exponentially. One strange source of EMI that I found at a local city park was from the equipment at a drive through car wash. There is a huge blast of EMI from the radiant heaters that travels several hundred yards before it starts to fade out. It took me awhile to figure out where that was coming from. For awhile, I hunted there on Sundays only because that was the only day there was no EMI at the park. Then I figured out that was also the day the car wash was closed, came back during the week and watched the detector react as the fans and heaters came on as cars moved through the wash. My experience is that you're better off turning sensitivity way down than trying to work with any chatter.
