The minelabs are more susceptible to EMI, because of the multi-frequency use. More frequencies = more chances to get interfered with.

I would try manual noise cancel first, then turn down the sensitivity.

If you feel the sensitivity is TOO low, go to a single frequency mode!

Glabelle, that is exactly what I do. ( noise cancel and then adjust sens.) I've been know to run sens. at 9-10 in certain circumstances, and turn it down until the chatter goes away. I do have to admit that I've never run my 800 on single freq. though. Maybe I should try that out. Not complaining about the Equinox in any way, just saying that there is a lot of emi especially in built up areas with all the cell towers, power lines buried, and business equipment running.
