I am posting this on both the Minelab and XP Forums because some might only read it on their respective favorite model site.

Q: Of them all, do you have a favorite or preferred model for specific uses?

EQ800: old yards, parks, schools, sports fields, occasional old west sites.
Deus:: old ski resorts, old west sites with high iron trash areas and as a complimentary detector to areas that myself or others have already hunted with other detectors.

Q: Of them all, if you could Only Own ONE detector and ONE search coil, what would be your pick?

Can't say that I want to concede giving up either. Both are excellent detectors for the areas I like to use them; the proper tool for the job so to speak. Having used my EQ800 the longest, I have the most confidence in it and success with it in comparison to my Deus. I know the 800 better than the Deus at this point. 800 w/EQX11 coil.

Q: Now here's the final Question . . . : Please tell readers just what it is you like about any of these models, and also why it is you consider the one model to be your 'Favorite' of them all?

EQ800 - Having used this detector as my primary for the last 18 months or so, I have great confidence in my ability to use it in areas already hunted by others. It is comfortable for me to use, separates well, unmasks well, AND has excellent ability to find and ID targets at depth.

Deus - I have less experience with this detector. It too has the ability to find good items left behind / missed by earlier detectorists if areas difficult to hunt. I used it at the last WTHO with what I consider really good results. thumbs up Also, due to its' lightness, it is a delight to use when my arm and/or shoulder are aching and tired. After using this detector on the steep ski slopes in my area, it has earned a permanent place for itself.

In conclusion, what are one or two things you might like to see done to enhance the detector or search coil selection?

EQ800 - The detector comes from the factory with what I consider an 'ultralight' 3 piece search rod. It makes it easy to pack the detector up small for travel but isn't as 'rugged' as I would like for long term use.

At the last WTHO, a couple other EQ800 users had the SteveG Carbor Fiber 2 piece rod with the adjustable counter weight. VERY NICE. Excellent design, materials and workmanship. I plan on getting one of these when I get the a-ok from my better half.
