I had to run back into town today on an errand and brought along the 800 to get in a little bit more hunting.
Just 40 minutes to hunt and hopefully get some more experience with these trial settings.
Same setup as last time except Ground balance # was 24.
Surprisingly, the first good target I came across was a deep squeeker, max depth on the readout and ID bouncing all over between 25 and 34. I could not get a non-motion pinpoint on this though due to adjacent metallic items The audio is clincher though and I could walk completely around this target and centered it with the motion audio.
At 7 1/2" there was a flash of silver. From the bottom of the hole I received a sideways glance from Mercury. 1938-S. Still with sharp detail. This was a pleasant surprise.
I searched slowly along through the pull tabs, picked up a surface clad dime and near the end of my available time had another deep squeeker, but a little lower in tone, more in the IHC range. At 8 1/2" up came a 1" square piece of metal. I thought I might have a token, but on closer inspection it was a trimming from a strip of brass, irregular in shape. A good recovery at depth and certainly could have been a keeper.
And then it was time to go.
A good 40 minutes of practice with some settings that seem to be working well.
