Finding any silver coin around here, even in the ghost towns, has been close to impossible this year.sad smiley Last year I did much better, and even in the ghost towns I found over half of my silver coins with a tried-and-true, choice-condition White's XLT ... but some avid detectorist back in Utah somehow convinced me to sell it back to him and now ... I appear to be jinxed.eye popping smiley

And now it looks like a person needs one of those Malaysian-made Minelab Equinox units to find those silver coins in older parks and .... gosh, I have one here in my living room, all boxed-up-and-ready-to-ship to California. Guess somebody else is going to be using a silver-finding detector soon.

Oh well, I'll keep trying. Maybe it just takes a wee bit of good fortune. Maybe tomorrow will be my day?

Monte

My silver coins the last few years has been slim compared to decades past, but hunting the older sites has proved to turn up much older coins as well, silver included. You and I talked of this very thing about 5 years ago when I was looking a changing up my detecting routine / detectors. I found some of my oldest US coins last year.

Lucky detectors? I think we all have detectors that we just seem to fall in sync with. I think the boxed up detector headed to California is one somebody else might sync up with. I didn't think it was your frequency, so to speak. That's not good or bad, it just is.

I seem to sync especially well with my 800, and my Deus. I have a sense of confidence when I have them in hand. And the CoRe as well. Some other detectors I've had, not so much.

I've had enough detectors and experience using them over the years that I can make pretty good use of most any good detector, but some are more than that. Some give you confidence when they're in hand.

And you certainly aren't jinxed. Think about all of the wonderful finds you've made. Holy Toledo. Limited in the time you can hunt, I'll give you that.. but never jinxed.
