Upgrade 3.1.3 -initial thoughts

I believe I have version 3.1.3 if I caught the update correctly.

I had a very brief 90 minutes to have a go at my testing grounds park.

The day was headed towards the triple digit mark in most ares of Northern Utah, but this little park had been watered hard and the turf had that soft feeling underfoot.

My settings were left over from my last outing at a very different location way back in June or July and were pretty aggressive in regards to sensitivity, recovery and iron bias. I was surprised the update didn't clear my settings like on the last update. In the past, I had to re-input my settings and pair up the headphones again.

I ran a noise cancel, bobbed the coil for a ground balance, it settled on 17, backed my sensitivity down to 23, verified my recovery was 5 and iron bias Fe2 was at 2.

Off I went. It had been a while. My first 3 targets were three air balls, empty holes. Hmmm. Not good. I went in and tweaked my recovery to 6 and iron bias of Fe2 to 4. I upped the sensitivity to near max at 24. These settings have worked well at this park in the past. Following target sounded good.

The next target was a deep copper penny, 1959. The ground is very soft. Close to being wet. I moved further away from the pavilion out into the open area and started finding the typical coins for this park, deep clad. Deepest target was a little inch square piece of Copper with a gold wash on it. There was an instant when the sun hit the gold. . . we know that feeling. This was a full 9-10", just deeper than the pin pointer. Deepest target was a piece of sprinkler, this was deeper than my coin popper, 12+. Solid target.

I found a few copper pennies, a couple brown nickels, a few dimes and a couple quarters, all clad. All in the 4" to 8" range. The depth meter on my 800 worked fine.. I did not notice any depth reading abnormalities.

I only had 90 minutes or so and recovered what I thought would be coins or jewelry. I recovered 1 zinc that was shallow just to check. The zinc, bit of sprinkler head and an aluminum lid were my only garbage. No tabs.

my thoughts on the 3.x.x update? So far so good. Operation and function initially appear to be correct. I didn't try the new 4kHz search frequency nor have I given thought of how I might put it to use. Maybe next time.

Best of luck to you Minelabers in the field. I'm interested to hear your thoughts for those who updated their Equinoxes.
