yes! i have not updated the software yet! i got an apple that uses sierra 12.6
and it's too old (2009).i will eventually update, but i gotta tell ya i am having so much fun with this nasty little detector.it likes deep bigger iron in either bias settings ya gonna dig some, but when it "locks" up on i.d along with that sweet high tone i can't dig it up fast enough! i don't know what it is but this thing loves"deep" hits.and gets my juices flowing.i'm finding' more chiefs now than i have found in years, and it really loves deep, old nickels. 12 ,0r 13 "lock" gets it done ! I'm going' down 7,8,even 9 inches on targets with good clear audio, and id that is dead nuts accurate. its super lightweight, and a blast to use, what's not to like?..just sayin'

That brings me a smile. My 800 is a blood hound for nickels - My nickel finds, new and old, increased a bunch after I started hunting with my 800. The first older coin i found with my 800 was a buffalo nickel. And with so many cherry pickers leaving nickels behind, I've had a good time picking up the leavings. For the 800, 12/13 are the magic numbers with the nickels, regardless of depth. The war nickels can be a little higher.
typically 13/14. It sounds like this is going to translate right over to the 540.
I'm just going thru the, "Read the owner's manual and test in the basement" stage. It has a very similar feel to my 800. Are you primarily using the 8" or 12" coil and getting those depths in your area? Your numbers are typical depths for "deeper" targets where I am with the EQX11 coil.
Do you have a favored Mode yet ? Any other thoughts appreciated.
It's snowing outside my window at the moment, so it looks like I have a bunch of time to test my 540 in the basement and get a better feel for it.
