If I don't like a detector, for any number of reasons, it's not likely to stay around. I don't care how well it works, if I don't like it, it's gone.
The problem I have now and ever since I started detecting long ago was that I'll get my hands on a detector that for several reasons I just happen to like it. It's that likable category that perplexes me. I'm trying to thin down my detector outfit and I really like my Apex, both of them, and my Simplex +, both of them, as well as my F5 and two favorite Tesoro models. I like them all and they're not going anywhere because they do what I like them to do, they're comfortable to use and, they're just plain old likable.
And it's when I get to the point where I'll plan on thinning some detectors out that I don't really need because I have similar size search coils or comparable performance but I ran into that brick wall, such as with the Vanquish 540, that it is such as a likeable detector that it's hard to say goodbye. So for me, at least for this holiday season and the cold of winter, I think I'll just prepare a guest room and keep this likeable character around for at least a little while longer.
