to me, than it is with the 11" DD coil for the places I would use it. However, when hunting with the two side-by-side using the V-540 w/5X8 DD, I 'LIKED' the Vanquish 540 and 5X8 DD more than I liked the Equinox.
And to be honest, even though the V-540 is likable and I'll keep it around for a while, I have other detectors I prefer for the nasty iron littered old ghost towns, some I prefer for average urban Coin Hunting, some that I enjoy more for different Coin & Jewelry Hunting locations, some for plowed fields and other open areas, and a Tesoro gets top attention for quick work in most tot-lots.
Matter-of-fact, trying to piece together what I like the most with what my current physical & mobility limits are, I'm almost finished with my picking-and-choosing from what I have here at my place. I need to trim a lot of detectors and coils and whatever I can, so it's Wheel-and-Deal time
All I plan to add in the near future to my personal detector outfit, and to reign as king over the rest of the gear, might be a versatile ... and
Likable ... SMF. And that will likely happen in the near future .... but it won't be an Equinox.
