Rich------Yeah---finding rings is always fun & beach hunting a "change of pace".-----When we were in FL we used Excaliburs and found gold but boy--the beaches filled up with people even early in the morning.----Hunting salt water is a lot different than hunting fresh water beaches & much harder on the equipment (and more work).-----Patsy just looked at our records & we (together) have found 678 rings since 2002.----Most of them aren't gold---I don't know how many gold ones we have--didn't keep track.

Del,
You're part right. Back in the day, it was all about coin shooting old houses, schools, parks and other places around town that coins and tokens might be lost. So many places have been thinned out that I got to thinking that I better broaden my interests or before I know it I'd be looking for something else to do. So several years ago I decided to diversify. . . . I always thought that shallow water hunting for jewelry is cool as is hugget hunting for gold. I also added ghost towning. Along with my regular old coin shooting interests, I have plenty of opportunity for detecting and exploring, both of which I greatly enjoy.
Each of these is very different from the other in terms of knowledge base to be successful. That keeps me always having to learn new things which in turn keeps the few brain cells I have left occupied.
