I've been reading about these Equinoxes ever since they came out.
About a month or so ago I started looking around for a used 600 to try out.
They do seem to hold their value!
Well, my birthday was coming up, and since there aren't that many people in the world who know me well enough to celebrate (commiserate?), I took the plunge into a spanking new 800.
I've had it out 3 times this first week, and twice got silver, in the form of small rings. No old coinage as of yet, except for a 1920 wheatie from an area that says it was likely lost in the 50's or 60's.
Once you get past how frail it seems, there is a lot to like here. I like the adjustability even more than on my N/M multi units.
If you want to coin hunt and cherry pick, this thing gets top grades, with excellent VDI accuracy up to at least 6".
If you tune out a target number you will not hear a peep out of it.
I am glad I went with the 800 over the 600. The headphones alone are worth the upsell.
I was most interested in adjustable recovery speed, with the thought of using the 6" coil in the oceans of can slaw.
So far that has proven to be fruitless but educational.
