Had an errand in town and made a short stop at one of the parks for a little coinshooting.

Difficult to find grass area being watered well enough to do some digging. Found an area of the park getting some water AND that I've not hunted before. Lots and Lots and Lots of pull tabs.

I had the 800 with 11" coil, Park 1, 5 tones in my usual set up. Started off with response at 4 and iron bias at 2. Moved it to 5 and 2. Sensitivity at 25. 1st good deep target was a shotgun shell base, New Rival - 1901. 12ga. Thought I might have a deep IHC, Found a medium sized rusty nail at 8" and the base just off the point of the nail; 8 1/2".

Next was what I thought would be a deep wheatie. After cutting a plug and removing a few handfuls of dark soil, the pinpointer found the targets. One side of the hole held a medium sized rusty nail, the other a 1941-D wheatie. Right at 8".

Not long after that, I was working through a small patch of junk targets and got a rock solid 13, not too deep. I made a shallow cut to just peek down under the grass and the target was deeper. I wiggled out some dirt and pinpointed the culprit - a pull tab. ??? Too high of a target ID to be my target. Another poke with the pinpointer and removal of a bit more dirt and from approximately 5" came a brown nickel. I was surprised to be greeted by a nice Buffalo nickel; just enough date to read 1928.

I decided to try an area over by the road that had some older looking trees. I found a couple clad dimes and then had an iffy 6-8 signal between some pull tabs. Tough to pinpoint because of the tabs, so I approximated the center, cut a plug and was please to see a ring come out of the dirt. Unfortunately, just a plated ring, but a ring none-the-less. 7".

Well, I was out of time, but was generally pleased with being able to get out and finding a couple keepers. Hoping we get some rain / moisture to dampen the ground a bit.

Thoroughly enjoyed the 800 and again pleased with it's ability to find good stuff in with the bad.
