Still searching for that Indian cent
I haven't gotten much time in detecting the last couple of months, maybe three-four hours at most. Still trying to find older coins at an 1870's site that "should" have more than a few. I've revisited the garden site at the property where I pulled three silvers and a buffalo 5c.and spent my time there hunting. Went over the garden area again from a different angle, still using the eq800 and 11 inch coil and got the oldest coin of the year for me, a 1900 Liberty 5c. I washed it only with water and left the bluish patina that survived the water... it looks pretty good for 120 years old! Then I have switched UP to the 15 inch coil. Good targets are sparse... no silver and no Indians. Just a few wheaties and another Buffalo. Last time out I dug two coins, a 1937 wheatie, and a 1937 Buffalo.. what are the chances of that? Anyway, there is a brass finish buckle that I don't know what it is for... maybe a harness keeper or? Also a shotgun shell brass with stamping " T.E.I." "No.10" (ga) Don't know what company that's from. Also a broken lead soldier and misc. farm yard stuff, buckshot, a fired round ball. The 15" coil picked up a 22 cb short fired bullet at about 9"; and a clad dime with 3 iron nails in the hole.
Maybe I'm done for the year, weather has been marginal, but no frost right now. Farm yard has given up 3 silver, two buffalo 5c., one "V" 5c.and 9 wheats. I still think there are Indians hiding somewhere... .. The property is for sale now, so if it sells I will likely be done hunting this spot.
