Gregg,
I'm glad it is under the $2k mark. Same basic price as the E-Trac.
As for names, Manticore is strange for sure. The beast is also a bit much. You'll love that I'm hearing some call it the 'core for short. I would think Equinox 1500 but I guess the marketing department needs more pizazz than that. I think they missed the mark on names. If I get one I'll likely give it a personal nickname of some sort.
Most equinox users call their detectors 'Nox for short. Since there were two versions, I've always called mine the '800'. Never had anyone fail to understand what I was talking about. My etrac was just an etrac as was my explorer though mine was the XS model. My CZ-6 was just a CZ. I hear CTX3030 users refer to them as 3030's.
Perhaps the Minelab haters will come up with something compelling.

Why them dirty sons -a- guns over at the Minelab Marketing Dept. Now that ya pointed it out......I see what they did. They took the name of a tremendously great machine and snuck into their name ( Manti-CoRe) trying to pull off some kinda subliminal/subconscious Jedi mind trick.
Well, when they sell like hotcakes.......we now know why!!
