Monte, this post is probably more appropriate for the General detecting forum OR traditional coinshooting forum than the Minelab forum.
just a thought.
I don't think it needs to be transferred there, although a discussion of coil size or type could be valid anywhere.
It was simply as it relates to makes and models and the coils offered by the manufacturer, and we know that some manufacturers have failed to make a proper coil for certain tasks for some models. Two examples: XP doesn't offer a physically smaller coil for the Deus, Deus II or ORX, and Nokta / Makro let a lot of folks down by not making a 7" Concentric or 5" DD for their very popular and volume-selling Simplex +.
And it is really about coil size and not about a detector's Discrimination or having visual Target ID.. There are a lot of people who have and use a detector with a visual display but never or seldom use it or rely on it. OregonGregg is one example, and another are so many users of a Deus, Deus II or ORX who remove the control housing and put it in a pocket and only rely on the audio report. Personally, I seldom use a VDI report except for certain urban Coin Hunting conditions.
