Learning the Nox 800

November 06, 2022 12:13PM
I purchased a used 800 from Monte the later part of September and have 8-10 hours behind the wheel so far. After my 2nd excursion, I read a post by UtahRich where he talked about how he focused on low tones when hunting jewelry. The Nox is a different critter when it comes to tones and numerical scale when compared to my other detectors. That next trip out I hit a solid 9 low tone. 3" down and I had my first gold ring. The kt mark is really worn and I cannot make out if it's a 10 etc. Since then, I've dug a lot of foil balls and bits of aluminum. Oh well that's all part of this hobby. I held onto my Apex until I was sure the 800 and I meshed. The Apex went with its new owner Friday morningsmiling smiley. The 6" coil has been mounted since day one. I have a 2nd carbon fiber rod from Steves Detector Rods arriving tomorrow for the 11". I've been running park 1 with the only 2 mods being the recovery speed which I set at 4 and iron bias at 3.
