Monte, wasn’t there an exhaustive battery review done a couple of years ago ? If possible can you repost the findings?
The two guys and I use a Vanquish model, with a couple of other detectors, and we are mainly evaluating NiMH or Lithium Rechargeable batteries, and for fun and to clean out excess Alkaline batteries we are just exhausting those that we have on-hand. We are not buying anything new for a fresh battery test like I did before.
We mainly rely on rechargeable batteries now, and one plans to get the RnB battery for his Vanquish because he's tired of the short run-time. It's maybe the second most annoying thing I have with the V-540's I have owned. I have had my 'loaner-unit' V-540 running continuously now for 13 Hr. 36 Min. as of right now, and when I checked it maybe an hour ago the battery strength display still showed a Full Charge as all the segments were black. I made sure it was fully charged and turned from red to Green for a short while before I started it going. It is noisy because it's in another room with EMI as well as moving ferrous and non-ferrous targets, Full Volume, Full Sensitivity, and using my Custom program which is based on the Jewelry mode with only the first two Disc. segments rejected. Need the speaker audio going to put as much EMI and target-signal response going to help wear the batteries.
My son gets me at 6:00 AM
(it's 2:08 right now) to get me to the hospital for early morning eye surgery on my better right eye. I'll be close to blind after that for a few days until i can see well enough to track down thew former post, or to type out info on our evaluations. But when I can I will provide a link to that battery testing when I was still in Oregon, and also update this one I am doing with some other people. Like I said, I have heard 30 Hours and up to 40 Hours of run-time on the RnB Battery in the Vanquish, but this is full Volume and Sensitivity and continuous operation so the results will be interesting..
