They introduced a very good series of two models with the 800 and 600. And compared with some of the SMF entries the Equinox hasn't had as many of those annoying 'updates' to fix things.
However, there were issues to address before a new top entry, such as the rods, arm cup, control housing leakage, and stability of the coil ears and rod connection. They seem to have addressed all those needs in developing a new top-end, high-dollar model with the Manticore.
Then, wisely, they used the improved housing, rods and coil connection design of the Manticore to make the two replacement Equinox models, the 700 and 900. Including the circuitry, display VDI range and other things to give users a 'new model' with many changes they have heard and read about, and the result is a new choice that should not need a lot of 'updates'. It all sounds good to me, and with THREE new models being introduced by Minelab, I think their move is really going to capture a bigger share of the market in the coming two or three years.
Not sure if OregonGregg will be in the shopping line but no doubt more will be converted to a Vanquish, an Equinox, or the Manticore.
