You might be correct that some readers might not care what you or anyone's opinions are, but that's because they don't know UtahRich. I do. I have always appreciated and admired those who are in this great hobby who devote time and effort to learn their detectors ... and you do. That's why I always say I look forward to your posts and comments.

As for the guy from Oregon, he is also on a ''retired budget'' that restricts what he can spend. In this case he had saved to get a new detector, in a lower-cost range, and after years with the EQ-800 he knew it well so it was easy for him to get the new EQ-900. A lot of the changes were easy for him to deal with to get search modes set up.

The people he knew understood he was just fine with the '900' and were eager to nab a Manticore. He was simply curious about comparisons and settings with indoor comparisons due to the wintry weather. He didn't really have the money to invest, but he knew he could get it, briefly, do some comparisons, and then sell it to break even, or come very close.

I guess I could have better clarified my post by stating he is on a budget and the 900 was a better unit for him to get than the Manticore. I can understand living on a monthly budget and while the Manticore is interesting to me, so is the Equinox 900 and it might have been what I went for. I almost did this past week, but I was contacted by a fellow today who helped me decide to go for a brand new Legend Pro Pack, with shipping, for a terrific, and affordable, price.

I just hope to be able to do some detecting this year, and if my health improves and I really get the urge, and save some $$$, I just might get a Manticore as I have mainly heard good things about it.
