Many detectorists hold back when new detectors come out, awaiting word that a given detector is worth its' cost and that any problems have been worked out. I'm an early adopter as well.
In a month I warp up 58 years of avid detecting, in in the last 30+ years I have known Rich, he is but one of perhaps 9-10 individuals I know who really get serious about
acquiring and learning the detectors they 'adopt'. Sometimes such a service leads them to hang onto a detector that showed some good upbringing and bloodlines. The Minelab Equinox 800 is a modern prime example.
Other times they 'adopt' a new-to-them unit that is a bit unruly, has some annoying bad habits, but it is finally placed in a caring and hopefully patient home to continue its life journey.
Rich, and couple of others on these Forums, are the ones I keep alert for to post useful information on such new models like the Equinox 900 or Manticore.
