I guess you could put it that way. The 900 will easily do 95+ percent of what the Manticore can do. Yes, it does tout more power, the cool ID screen and better target separation, but in reality, most of the targets encountered will be within reach and proper identification of either machine. IMO the most important factor is that you know your machine and be in the right place. The 900 will probably be the go-to machine for me especially this summer when it gets hotter that Haydes on Sunday, and bulky proprietary headphones are not an option. Hunting trashy areas and wide-open spaces will be the 900 as long as they don't provide proper coils for the terrain. Whatever the case... I am chomping at the bit and will be comfortable with the use of either one.
