happy to know the 4" is getting good depth monte! in your experience, better than the coil's width in air?
It is a nice and thin and lightweight 4" Concentric type coil, but to do an 'air test' here in my home with a lot of EMI
(every detector I own or try is very noisy and unstabile) can only give me a rough idea of the detector / coil potential. Sitting here in my den, in front of my computer, LED desk lamp on, overhead light on and other in-house annoyances, I turned the F44 on using my full '20' Sensitivity setting, stood it on the arm cup und and used a Zinc 1¢ and common 5¢ coin to get a rough idea from an 'air test.'
I Do NOT consider the results from this 4" Concentric coil to be 'good.'
With a slow and 'proper' sweep speed holding the coins flat-to-the-coil and getting solid hits at 6"-6½" and 'iffy' hits at 7", I would consider that
'much better than just good' for a 4" coil.

.."proof of the pudding" is coming up with your field testing. will wait for that...good report!
Yes, that will be the real test of a smaller-size coil on both a discontinued Omega 8000
(available for a reasonable price
) or a new F44
('brand new' at a very reasonable price
) which make very 'fun-to-use' urban Coin Hunting units. If I can find a wind-sheltered location or two I might eeek out a few minutes today after my morning VA clinic appointment. However, it's 30° now with a 16 mph wind for a wind chill of 19°, and while it's supposed to be mostly sunny, the high later today might hit 36° but the winds are supposed to be in the 10-18 mph range all day.
Tomorrow is the same before snow arrives for a few days on Friday, but Thursday's wind drops to around 5 mph making it better .... but coming off a 17° low so the ground might be too tough for target recovery. I might check with my niece in neighboring Idaho and see if the old barn on their property is accessible where there might be a few 'keepers' left inside the old barn that dates to about the '30s or '40s ... plus that might shelter me from the wind and most of the ground hasn't been wet to freeze.
Anyway, when I have the chance to work the 4" at several different site challenges I'll report back. The 'depth' will be an interesting factor, although I bought the 4" Concentric coils for working in tighter, confined spaces and really dense debris and not necessarily for 'depth.'
