Why use a what will prob be a $$$$$ machine when ya can just do it with a $399 waterproof Simplex +

Short Answer? Pick the right tool for the job.

Longer Answer? Good question - Why would we ever choose a more expensive item if there is a less expensive alternative? Wouldn't you ALWAYS chose the less expensive?

For the sake of making my point, Why buy Snap-On Tools if Craftsman Tools or Harbor Freight tools are available?

Let's compare an entry level truck to a Heavy Duty version - An entry level truck gets you in the game. What does a HD version do for you? Increase towing and cargo capacity. Provide heavier duty shocks, springs, struts, frame and body, all the items that support the truck and the cargo / load you're carrying. Likely a larger engine and transmission with greater capacity. And so on with the example.

Does a guy need a 1-ton diesel truck with dualies in the back to do Saturday trips to the local IFA, Lowes or Home depot for a couple bags of fertilizer or some fence posts w/ a couple bags of concrete mix or an occasional trip to move some furniture or drop off some refuse at the dump? No. It is overkill. He might feel big driving around in it, but all of the extra isn't necessary IF his use is limited to these types of projects.

But what if he's more serious? Then he might want to purchase equipment equal to his use. Just like you have a very nice MXT and M6, but use other detectors at the ghost towns. Why?

Are the MXT and M6 bad detectors? No. Won't the MXT and M6 find stuff in the places you like to hunt? Sure they will. Will your CoRe, Relic and Red Racer do the same job, but better? The obvious answer is YES, or it isn't likely you would still be using them INSTEAD of your MXT and M6 when you go to a ghost town. Your group of Ghost Town detectors outperform your Non-Ghost town detectors, or at least you believe they do. (Said for the sake of anybody wanting to argue the abilities of the MXT/M6 vs CoRe/Racer/Relic)

Are the Impulse AQ and the Simplex + the same basic detectors but just from different manufacturers? NO. The Impulse AQ is a leading edge Pulse Induction detector with the ability to discriminate IRON and still find low conductors (gold) at depth, sitting right with the iron in a salt water environment.

So, while the Simplex + has lowered the Entry level price of getting into the game of shallow water hunting. If you find that you're feeling more serious about your water hunting you may want to find the most appropriate equipment to meet the job at hand.
