.. in time to make our
12th WTHO in Nevada starting June 3rd? Something new in physical packaging and circuitry design concept that would make a good performer in dense Iron Nails, Rusty Tin and other challenging conditions we face?
I would have thought they would have come out with a new Teknetics or Fisher brand models by now. They've managed to hang in there the last few years by reducing the retail of the mid to upper-end models, shuffling models around between Bounty Hunter, Fisher and Teknetics and changing their name and colorful decals, and little tweaks to the top F75 and T2 line.
One issue I have had with a lot of the Fisher and Teknetics models for the last several years has been a lack of a functional adjustable Ground Balance for ALL of the modes. Some only have automated or manual GB for the Threshold-based All Metal mode but rely on a preset GB for the Discriminate mode. Some have a Disc. mode that is partially controlled with a preset GB for one end, but the manual GB can effect the other end of the Disc. range performance.
One of the popular adjustments found on many models today is Iron Audio Volume control., introduced in the FTP product line several years ago with the budget Euro-Tek Pro, but still not available on a mid-line to upper-end models with the adjustability found on model like my simple Fisher F44. I would really like to see a current manufacturer who's been around for a while provide Iron Handling performance on par with the Nokta FORS CoRe or FORS Relic models, too.
I've seen the limitations of many Simultaneous Multi-Frequency models and the benefits of a Selectable Multi-Frequency design, and I'd really like to see a Selectable Multi-Frequency offering from FTP ... IF it worked well. I've seen that with models from Nokta / Makro as well as XP, especially for handling some Iron Nail contaminated sites to unmask keepers.
It's time for the USA detector makers to step-it-up if they want to stay in the game with a lot of avid consumers. What do you think? Any guess when they might bring out something new and innovative with up-to-date current features?
