would love to see whitey,and/or fisher do something with multi-freak.
i'm assuming they have already torn down minelab's offerings on the work bench, and are feverishly trying to circumvent the patents. only time will tell!

Three easy conclusions or thoughts:

1.. I do have two multi-frequency Minelab Vanquish 540's and for what they are in an "entry-level" group, they do perform quite well. However, having owned several BBS Sovereigns, a half-dozen FBS Explorer series units, a few CZ's and a mix of the DFX, V3i and VX3 multi-frequency models, I am, overall, not a big fan of Simultaneous Multi-frequency detectors.. Especially not as a versatile 'general-purpose' detector. I have been quite satisfied with the in-the-field performance from some excellent Single-Frequency detectors that wasn't matched by many Multi-Frequency offerings.

2.. Both White's and Fisher have produced Multi-Frequency detectors and they don't need to 'tear down" anything from Minelab. I do know that FTP has the savvy engineers to be able to make whatever they wanted. White's? I don't have a clue who they have, if anyone at all, in their engineering department with the knowledge to get into today's digital-design competition.

3.. As Del commented, I don't think they are "feverishly" doing anything. There's no doubt in my mind the folks in Texas are busy with something new and creative because it's about time. Additionally, they have several savvy engineers on their payroll. In Oregon, that's maybe more sweat you see, not caused by a fever, but trying to figure how to stay afloat a little longer. They have two Multi-Frequency models, but could just be busy trying to plug the leaks in their boat to prolong how long it can drift along.

I sure haven't seen of or heard of anything in the industry that suggests otherwise. Just watch for new stuff, at reasonable prices from FTP.
