CZ's and their fabled depth - A gold standard for me

For deep turf hunting in Chicago parks with their moderate ground they are hard to beat. Explorer's and Etracs work good too but a proper CZ-3D has a Little more 'raw' depth IMO. Does it like a deep nail or two? Yes, but it also loves deep coins

I sported an original CZ-6 from the early 90's with the waterproof coil connections and dongle for the headphones. Then changed to a CZ-6a in about 1996 for the remainder of the decade. Had detector will travel was our motto back then and my buddy Sid and I would road trip all over Utah exploring old homes in large and small towns alike. It was a deep detector in the places we frequented.

Interesting for me, as I experimented with other detectors, the CZ was the gold standard for depth, always being used when trying to compare the capabilities of other detectors.

Today, my Equinox is my favorite that does measure up for me when comparing depth to the old CZ. To be fair though, the CZ did it with an 8" concentric coil. thumbs up

Remembering fondly the roads I've traveled.

I used to use some CZ-5's. I've had CZ-3D's, even a 'Tom Tampered' version, and
