What about the single freq XL -PRO and it's 'dead nuts' meter?
The 6000 Pro XL, renamed the XL Pro, was also one of my all-time favorite detectors from White's. It has an excellent needle meter display, and with a well engineered circuitry it was one of the more accurate TID detectors I ever used.
I found our US Nickels and other low-conductive targets with it, such as gold jewelry, but thanks to that 6.6 kHz operating frequency it was hot on higher-conductive targets such as Copper Pennies and the Clad and Silver Dimes, Quarters, Halves and other high-conductive desired keepers.
As I replied to j.t., some SMF behavior can be helpful or useful, such as sometimes doing well with a salt water beach. However, I have used SMF's and hunted with others using them, and been able to outperform them using a Single-Frequency model. There is good reason why a manufacturer incorporates Single-Frequency selection with models such as the Minelab Equinox, Garrett Apex, and the coming XP Deus II and The Legend from Nokta/Makro.
No 'perfect' detector made. We simply find one or more detectors that seem to work well for our needs and satisfy us, then we get out hunting to make dreams come true.
