The Tracker IV can be a handy detector for those who are just going after shallower-located coins. Many people who buy one to "get started" are soon unimpressed because it lacks a display and a lot of adjustment functions. To be honest, a lot of people never give any detector a fair shake and put in the time to learn it, regardless of cost.

That is the main job of my Tracker, shallow targets in sports fields. A lot of times I go the day after a soccer game to get the items that have just been stomped below the surface.
I do consider it a great beginner machine because it helps teach people the skill of listening instead of watching a screen. I also believe it should stay in their arsenal after they upgrade. It can be revisited from time to time to get those basic skills back.
I enjoy having the switch to change from Disc to tone. I can evaluate a target better before I dig. I could just stay in the "all metal" mode and dig every target, but the anticipation and mystery is part of the fun smiling smiley

Are you talking about the very thin, black, 4" Concentric coil, or a slightly sub-5" white DD coil?

The 4" black coil.

Jamie, quite a few people still enjoy their BH detectors.
