Monte, I muse sometimes on what we would be reading if you were born and lived on the East coast in one of the original 13 colonies.
What might your detecting career have looked like if you had spent the hours detecting back in the day on 400 year old sites???
Just imagining what your collection of finds might look like.
Cheers,
Drew
I don't like big, populated places. I don't care for a lot of rain or a lot of humidity. I don't like a lot of snake and pesky mosquitoes and other annoying flying bugs. I'm not partial dense, thing, wet and humid-country vegetation. Soggy, swampy places are not on my favorite list.
Since I was a young sprout I have enjoyed westerns. Movies and then on TV, and when I read about early American history I haven't cared for much of anything east of the Mississippi River and always enjoyed the more open country, with fewer people, in most places, and the 'westward movement'. Dry climates, deserts, sagebrush, wide-open spaces, and as soon as I was out of High School I would have been loaded up and on my way west. No different than what I did two months after I graduated, except I already was "out west" so I simply relocated to a more enjoyable, less populated environment.
So, as soon as I could, regardless of what might have been around to be found, I no longer would have been an 'easterner' and my detecting sites would be what they have been since mid-to-late '67.
