And your 1854 Seated Liberty Half-Dime and James L.'s 1854 Large Cent were both found the same day on the
1st WTHO in Toano, Nevada. Those were the oldest coins found on our
WTHO's until Darby nabbed an 1836 Capped Bust Dime on the first Eastern Oregon
WTHO, and that was at a place we call 'Lone Tree.'
We never find it all, but even though some of the old sites are getting thinned out quite a bit, it's mostly the easier-to-find targets we put a coil over. Now is when we all need to get more serious, rely on better detectors and coils and settings, and work sites more slowly-and-methodically in order to find the partially-masked left-overs.
And now I wonder. One month from today is June 7th, even though that will be a Sunday, and it is the last day of the
12th WTHO in Nevada. I wonder if anyone is going to set a new record for an outing? New memories are about to be made by those heading out for some fun.
