Hang on there Monte!
Doing the Math here. 4 Apex detectors each with a pair of rechargeable headphones (4) synched to the detector comes to 8 devices to make sure they are charged before going into the field.
Let's start with what I am using, a total of THREE (3) Apex devices, with each one sporting a different search coil. The 4th Apex is on-hand only as a 'loaner-unit'. So, for me and my needs, based on the site I plan to hunt, I'm only using 3 Apex units.
Each of my 3 Apex outfits does have it's own MS-3 wireless headphones to charge, and each has their own AT Pinpointer w/Z-Lynk so I can hear the Pinpointer in my headphones, but those are 9-V battery powered.
When I set out for a day of hunting, like I'll be doing shortly, I am only taking my main-use Apex with my 'Ripper' 5X8 DD coil mounted. The other two Apex models are home unless I plan to go hunt a wide-open plowed field or beach, etc. to use the bigger 'Raider' coil, or want to use a TID / Tone ID model in a very densely littered site in which case I grab Apex #3 w/5" DD NEL coil.
Thus, when I set out shortly I will be taking my #1 Apex w/'Ripper' coil and wireless Headphones so I have 1-Detector and 2-Charged-up items in my outfit.

Compared to 3 XP ORX detectors, (3 controllers and 3 coils and 3 headphones) for a total of 9 devices to make sure they are charged before going into the field.
I always take a Pinpointer, and had the ML-6 XP Pinpointer with my ORX devices so I could hear it i my headphones, and it also needed to be charged up. So, let's say you set out to join me in a day of detecting, and like me you were only taking one detector, one similar-size coil, and one Pinpointer. What would you maybe have?
1-XP ORX / Deus that needed a Controller charged, 1-5X9½ DD HF search coil, that also had to be charged, plus 1-set of wireless Headphones that need to be charged up, and 1 Pinpointer that also needed a little outlet time to be charged up.

UtahRich, you got me Monte, 8 is less than 9. I guess that argument stands.
. Barely.
Rich
So I would have
1-Detector +
1-Headphones to be charged
= 2 components, while you would have
1-Detector Controller, +
1-Coil +
1-Headphones +
1-Pinpointer and that
= 4 rechargeable parts, and that means I only have 50% of the pre-charged devices you would.
Then factor in this. My Garrett Apex, each of them I have noted, provide me a very decent run-time on a full charge. Not counting the headphones, your set-up calls for Controller to be charged as well as a search Coil, and we all know those search coils tend to drain power at a faster rate than does the control unit.
Now, don't get me wrong. I do like the ORX and 5X9½ HF coil and their performance in a lot of tough sites, but I just do not care for the multi-rechargeable package set-up Thus, in the end, you are satisfied with what you use and I am satisfied with what I use, and in both cases the power companies are going to get a teeny-tiny amount of business keeping our outfits in operating condition.
