First, I would like to say that the Deus is a simple machine. If it wasn’t, I would not be using it. I have both the Deus and the ORX. The Deus is my everyday detector. I have the ORX in the back of my truck for a traveling detector, so if while on a trip or vacation somewhere it’s available if I want to use it. Here are some of my programs that I have on my Deus that are just not possible with the ORX.
1. I am mainly a coin and jewelry hunter, and I have a 5 tone program that has different tones for nickels, zinc pennies, and dimes and quarters. This is not possible with the ORX. It’s 3 tones lumps zincolns in with dimes and quarters which is annoying to me when I am coin shooting.
2. I have a 2 tone program that has a low tone for iron, and I have adjusted the high tone so that it sounds similar to that sweet tone of my Tesoro Bandido ll Umax. Again, not possible with the ORX.
3. I have a 2 tone program for trashy parks with the discrimination set at 10, 11 through 34 notched out to eliminate small bits of foil, and the same high tone as program 2 above. Not possible with the ORX.
4. I have a full tone program that I only use in areas where there is very little trash and emi. So I don’t use it very often. But it is there if I want to use it. Impossible with the ORX.
These are very simple adjustments on the Deus and are not not hard at all to set up. And once you save them into a new program they are there for you to use anytime. I also like detectors that are simple and for me the Deus is in that category. As far as raw power, the ORX and Deus are probably equal, but I will take the Deus anytime over the ORX because I can set it up the way that I want it.
